Get to know me

Hello, my name is Sarah Woodcock. I am an APC-certified specialist dyslexia assessor and tutor, and a qualified QTS teacher. I specialise in supporting children with additional learning needs, helping them overcome challenges and achieve their full potential. With over 16 years of experience in education, my passion for teaching continues to grow, and every day, I strive to re-engage children in learning, empowering them to succeed no matter their ability.

I initially worked as a teaching assistant for nine years in a mainstream school before becoming a classroom teacher. As my passion for education expanded, I earned my APC certification as a dyslexia assessor, allowing me to provide expert assessments and tailored interventions for students with dyslexia and other specific learning difficulties. As a tutor, I work with children facing a wide range of challenges, from Global Developmental Delay and speech and language difficulties to hearing impairments and children who simply find certain subjects more difficult.

My extensive experience includes supporting children with Autism Spectrum Conditions (ASC), selective mutism, anxiety, dyslexia, and a range of Special Educational Needs (SEN). My background as an APC-certified dyslexia assessor, combined with my hands-on experience, allows me to tailor my tutoring to meet the unique needs of each student. I adapt my approach as needed, ensuring every child receives the support they need to thrive academically and personally.

Sarah has been teaching my son, with autism and ADHD for the past 2 years. She has a great understanding of SEN and she has not only helped my son with maths, but has helped and supported me.

Sarah is amazing! She has been tutoring my 8 year old daughter for the last 2 years and my daughters maths has really improved! Sarah always made the sessions fun and interactive and my daughter would look forward to the next session.

- CW

Sarah makes the lessons fun and interesting and I feel relaxed in them! When I get stuck, she always breaks the question into smaller bits, and this helps me to understand the work. She is patient when I need time to think.

Dyslexia Assessments

I offer full diagnostic assessments for dyslexia.  These can be carried out in the student’s own home, or in school subject to the school’s permission.  After your booking has been made and a date booked, I will require a deposit; once paid you will receive all important documentation regarding the assessment, which will include forms for all parties to complete.
